This website, edwinparrisjr.com (the "Site"), is the personal professional website of Edwin J. Parris Jr. ("I," "me," or "my"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit the Site, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Site is operated from the United States.
Information you provide directly. If you use the contact form on the Site, I collect the name and email address you enter, the contents of your message, and your choice about whether to receive email updates from me (a consent checkbox that you may leave unchecked).
Information collected automatically. The Site uses Google Analytics 4 ("GA4"), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, together with cookies, to understand how visitors use the Site. This includes pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, the referring website, browser and device type, operating system, screen size, and approximate geographic location (city or region level, derived from your IP address). GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses.
Hosting and server logs. The Site is hosted by GoDaddy (GoDaddy.com, LLC). Like most hosting providers, GoDaddy may automatically collect standard technical logs — such as IP address, browser type, and access timestamps — for security and operational purposes.
I use the information described above to: respond to messages submitted through the contact form; send occasional professional updates by email, but only if you opted in; understand how visitors find and use the Site so I can improve its content; protect the Site against spam, abuse, and security threats; and comply with applicable legal obligations.
I do not sell personal information, and I do not use it for third-party advertising.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses two kinds:
Essential cookies, set by the GoDaddy website platform, which are necessary for the Site to function properly.
Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics (for example, cookies named "_ga" and "ga" followed by an identifier), which distinguish visitors and sessions. These cookies can persist for up to two years unless you delete them. Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for a limited period and is reported to me only in aggregate form.
You have choices about cookies and analytics:
I share personal information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers. GoDaddy (website hosting, contact form processing, and email delivery) and Google (analytics) process information on the Site's behalf, subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Legal requirements. I may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
Protection of rights and safety. I may disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of myself, Site visitors, or others.
I do not sell personal information, and I do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
I send marketing or update emails only to people who have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every such email, or by contacting me through the Site's contact form. Direct replies to a question you sent me are correspondence, not marketing.
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence. Email list information is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to the Google Analytics retention settings for this Site, currently up to 14 months.
Regardless of where you live, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting me through the Site's contact form. I will respond to verifiable requests within a reasonable time.
California residents may have rights under California law to know what personal information is collected, to access or delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising those rights. As stated above, I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Visitors from the European Economic Area or United Kingdom: where those laws apply, my legal bases for processing are your consent (for analytics cookies and marketing email) and legitimate interests (for Site security and responding to your messages). You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Information is processed and stored in the United States.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, contact me and I will delete it.
I use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Site contains links to third-party sites, such as LinkedIn. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which are governed by their own policies.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
Questions about this Privacy Policy, or requests regarding your information, can be submitted through the contact form on this Site.
